Thank goodness the test is over! :)

The CRCT is FINALLY over! We can all breathe a sigh of relief!

WHOOOHOOO Testing is OVER! We are finally done with the stressful week of testing! Of course, I will let you all know when the results are available! Showing what we know was easy... we have been working so hard this year!

The Dowell Luau- This exciting event at our school has been canceled this year due to a lack of pre sale tickets and interest. We hope that this will not be a problem next year.

Economics Day 2008 (MAY 20)- As all of you know, our Economics Day Celebration is quickly approaching! We need your help! Another copy of the parent letter and donation request list will be sent home on Friday, along with the newsletter. Please donate what you can so that we do not have to cancel this event like Luau. Our kids have been working very hard to behave so that they can earn this reward!

David Douglas Jewelry Contest Winner- Our class participated in a writing contest that was sponsored by a jeweler in town. The prize was a gemstone that the student can give their mom! (or anyone else that is special to them!) The students has to write about why their mom deserved the diamond over everybody else's mothers. We have a winner in our class.....

                                                      Yesdilex Maldonado-Rodriguez!

Congratulations, Yesdi! Your mom will be so happy!

Have a great long weekend!

Hello! I just have a few announcements this week.

Supplies Needed: Please make sure your student comes to school with all the suppllies they need. We have some students that need to borrow everyday and their teacher is running out of lending pencils!

Headphones: Please purchase a pair of headphones for your student to use while we are in the computer lab. These will be for your student only! They will not be shared. If your student does not get one, they will not be allowed to use sound on the math and reading games. I found good pairs at Walmart for cheap prices!

Just as a reminder... No school on Monday, Feb. 18- 19! Monday is Preseidents' Day and Tuesday is a teacher work day!

Attached is the newsletter for this week. Please sign it and return it. This is part of the students' homework grade.

Have a great long weekend!

I hope everyone had a great week back from the long MLK weekend. We have been really busy in class catching up. It's hard to imagine that we're already talking about the CRCT! Wow, so much to do before April! Please continue to work with you student when they read. Ask them thos important questions I talked to you about during conference. (Problem, solution, characters, events, etc.)

Parents, please return the field trip forms with your students on Monday! The field trip is on Feb 4, and we need to collect the money and permission/lunch forms before then. If there is a student that forgets the permission form, they will NOT be allowed to go. Email me with any questions you may have.

In case your student is giving 0ut valentines on February 14, here is a list of the names of the kids in our class. Please make sure to give one to every student, so that nobody gets their feelings hurt.

Santa Claus is Coming to Dowell!

For everyone in Miss Bazylak's class on the good list this year:

The Santa Breakfast will be held Saturday, December 8th. The time is from 9 AM to noon. There will be crafts, pancake breakfast, the Polar Express Movie, and it's just 3 dollars per child! Pictures with Santa will be an additional $2.00. You may pre order tickets, or buy them at the door.

See you on the 8th!

Our New Pen Pal!

Our class has adopted a solider. His name is Sargent Rojas. Please help us by being supportive of this project. He has already emailed me, telling me how excited he is! We will be getting things ready to send to him for the holiday season! He will be writing the kids, and they are so excited! Ask them about him!

November has flown by!

Wow I can't believe Thanksgiving is already over and we are preparing for the holidays! Just as a reminder, the Winter Break is from December 22- January 6. January 7 is a teacher workday- students get to have one extra day at home!

We will be having our classroom party on the Friday before the break.  (December 21) If your family has travel plans, and your child will be absent for the party, please let me know. I will change the party to Wednesday to accommodate for the kids that will be leaving.

Please continue to review multiplication with your students. We will be moving to division and then to geometry soon. They need all the practice they can get! PS- I found flash cards for one dollar at the Dollar Tree!!!!!!!!!

Germs come with cold weather!

Please make sure that your child understands the importance of washing their hands, using tissues, sneezing into their arm, and any other precautionary measure to keep germs from spreading. We have had pink eye in our classroom and we are desperately trying to prevent it from spreading. (Even I have contracted it!) Remember that your child cannot come to school with pink eye unless they have written documentation that they have been treated. They must be on medication for at least 24 hours! Hopefully this will cut down on the spread of germs. Thank you so much for your support:)
