Mrs. Bertoglio & Mrs. Long will be demonstrating the ACTIVboard with the help of some students.
Power Point demonstration in the computer lab.
WORD demonstrated in Mrs. Sullivan's 3rd grade classroom.
Cobb Virtual Library demonstrated in the Media Center.

Dowell Dash Fun Run
Our first Fun Run will be held on Friday, March 20th during school. We are encouraging students to become fit, so our PTA decided to make a fund-raiser by becoming fit. This will take place of our annual cookie dough fund raiser.
Directions:
1. Have your child ask friends and family to sponsor their run. They can pledge an amount per lap or just give a donation.
2. Complete the chart on the reverse side.
3. Students will be running in school.
4. Then the students will collect the money pledged for each lap they ran. Money is due one week after the Fun Run.
PRIZES for participation:
1. All students will receive exercise!
2. Students who collect:
$50+ = Medal
$100+or $200 for family=entered in drawing for Wii
Top 10=Pie in Mr. Manson's face
Top Class=$100 Visa card for teacher, treats for students,
teacher throws pie at Mr. Manson
2nd place class, $50 for teacher + treats +pie
3rd place class, $25 for teacher + treats +pie

DOWELL DASH FUN RUN
When: Friday, March 20, 2009
Students will be receiving a Donation Sheet today . Please have students start getting donations for the number of laps he/she will run on Firday, March 20th.
Here is the info. about the prizes for the Dowell Dash-
Students who collect:
$50+ = Medal
$100+or $200 for family=entered in drawing for Wii
Top 10=Pie in Mr. Manson's face
Top Class=$100 Visa card for teacher, treats for students, teacher throws pie
2nd place class, $50 for teacher + treats +pie
3rd place class, $25 for teacher + treats +pie
Let the students know that their pledges will be due a week after the Dowell Dash. Also, make sure they know they can collect flat donations and they don't have to collect per lap. There is a maximum of 40 laps per students.
Please join Dowell Elementary for the 1st Health Night! There will be many fitness activities for adults and children. Mrs. Bertoglio will be teaching a KICK (cardio kickboxing) section with Mrs. Baltes. Check out the information below!
Dowell Health and Fitness Night
Do you want to become healthier and fit? Well, now is your chance. Dowell is having its first ever Health and Fitness Night! Many businesses will be providing important information on health and fitness. Gold's Gym, the Kennesaw State University Physical Education Department and Dowell students will be here providing several fun activities. Healthy snacks and water will be available for purchase to support our Relay for Life team. So bring the family for a night full of fun and fitness!
In celebration of Dr. Suess' birthday we read Green Eggs and Ham. Afterwards we made and ate green eggs and ham. Yummy!!

Writing: How do I write an opinion/point of view story? How do I use the Dowell editing marks?
Science: How can I tell the difference between living and nonliving things?

Health Night
Dowell's 1st Health/Fitness Night is Friday, March 20 from 6-9 PM. It will be a fun night full of health and fitness activities. More information will be sent out soon!
What we are learning about:
EQ's:
Math- How do I use numbers everyday? We are counting numbers up to 20 while also being able to write the number. For money we are learning to make fair trades and buy items for money up to 30 cents.
Science: How can I tell the difference between living and nonliving things in my world?
Writing: How do I write an opinion/point of view story? How do I edit my paper? Ask your child about the Dowell Editing marks!
Reading: How do I orally blend sounds? How do I find the literary elements in a story?

Please continue to work on sight words with your child. Also, please support our math standard by having your child learn the number words that correlate with each number.
Up Coming Events:
Supper with Santa: On Friday, December 5th from 5:00 - 8:00. We will be serving a spaghetti dinner. The tickets are $10.00 for a family of 4 or $3.00 per person.
There will be no cost for admission if you would like to come see Santa.
You can have your picture taken with Santa for $2.00 or bring in a gift for our Giving Tree and receive a free picture with Santa.
Come visit our vendors and do some holiday shopping. There will be a silent auction and raffle. The chorus will perform and there will be crafts to do as well. Come have a GREAT TIME WITH YOUR FAMILY!!!
