Week 29
Important Dates and Information:
- March 20 - Report Cards Go Home
- April 7 - 11 - Student Holiday - No School
We still need supplies! Thank you to those of you who have donated items! We still need...glue sticks, headphones for the computer lab, and cooking supplies. The students really enjoy cooking, but without the supplies we can no longer cook. If you are able to help with cooking supplies please send a note in your child's yellow folder that you are willing to donate items.
Don't forget to bring in your plastic eggs...filled with goodies and taped.
Highlights from the Classroom:
Language Arts/Reading: handwriting, writing first and last name, sequencing (beginning, middle, end), review literary elements (author, illustrator, character, setting, problem, solution), simple directions writing using graphic organizers, editing marks, phonics, blending, sight words, and computers. We have begun taking some AR quizzes on the computer. Please read library books at home at least two times and ask questions to help with comprehension.
Math: Daily Math RAP (calendar, months of the year, days of the week, today, yesterday, tomorrow, tens, ones, daily number work, season - winter, power line, graphing, money), review money (fair trade, penny, nickel, dime, quarter), addition (building numbers to 10), Mega Math, math problem solving, and math journals.
Science: We have continued our study of plants. How do I explain that plants are alike and different? How do I group plants by their characteristics? We discussed different types of plants (trees, flowers, grass, shrubs) and what plants need.
Guidance: Career Awareness
Ways to help at home!
Students need to know how to write their first and last names this nine weeks. We have been practicing, but please practice at home too. Coins - practice identifying coins by name and their values (penny, nickel, dime, and quarter), practice counting out pennies to trade for a nickel and a dime. Continue to practice home mailing address, telephone number, and birthday, read nightly, continue studying sight words, practice handwriting, and allow students to write in a journal at home.
