Red Ribbon Week
RED RIBBON WEEK is October 27-31, 2008. Please join the Dowell PTA and Staff this year as WE ELECT to be DRUG FREE. Our theme this year is focused on teaching the students to choose a life without drugs. It will also involve some vocabulary in regards to the Presidential election. Our candidates are: Say No Sam (portrayed as Uncle Sam) and Do Drugs Doug (portrayed as a dirty, scruffy man). Students will hear the persuading arguments for each candidate, their promises, and what they stand for. Then on Friday they will Elect to be Drug Free.
To help make this week memorable the students may participate in our fun dress up days as follows:
Monday- “Winners Don’t Do Drugs”…..wear a sports jersey
Tuesday- “I Vote for a Drug Free America”……wear red, white, blue
Wednesday- “Being Drug Free is No Sweat”….wear sweat shirt and pants
Thursday- “Embrace Hugs, Not Drugs”…..bring a stuffed animal
Friday- “Crazy about Living Drug Free”…wear red day and have crazy hair
