Important Information

Field Trip Money. I have the field trip forms. Now, I need money from the ones who sent a partial payment. The total amount due is $22.00. Thanks for your prompt response.

Photo Release Form– I sent a new release form. Please read it carefully. Sign and  return it if you agree with the terms.

We can now go to the library daily. Students can check two books out a day.

A.R.– We now have limited access to A.R. in our classroom. I will send more info soon. As for now, I will be training students on using the computer to take the tests. We are setting a goal this week of passing one test by Friday.

Publix Math Night– Thursday, Oct. 4th.

Thank you for the snack donations. It helps a lot!

Picture Retakes are this Friday, Oct. 5th. Please return your picture packet if you were not satisfied and I will make sure they are retaken on Friday.

Math worksheet packet and Language arts packet. **All homework is due on Friday.

Reading each night is also a part of the homework. Students are to read at least 15 minutes every night and write the book read on the reading log. I will send home books if a child needs them. Otherwise they can read books from home or the library.

Reading Log Goals– Each time a student reads 60 minutes they earn a star. For every 5 stars, the student goes to the Treasure box.

We had our first student produced play this week. The “Horses” reading group performed “Three Billy Goats Gruff.” They did a fantastic job! I look forward to more plays from our class this year. I will send a note to the parents of the group performing so they can come see their student perform.

Academic Alerts will come home Monday, Sept. 17th.

Sept. 19th is an Early Release day. School is over at 12:20. Please let me know if your child will be going home a different way then usual.

Handwriting– We are using D’Nealian handwriting at Dowell. It is important for students to use this when writing. It will lead them into cursive. Thank you for helping your student with the handwriting. The writing homework was much better!

Email Notification Service

Parents
The service that we use to automatically notify you when the blog is updated has changed their terms of service in such a way that an ad will begin showing up at the bottom of the email that comes to you. Your email address is still not being shared with anyone other than the school! The mere placement of advertising in school communications is of concern to us, especially since we have no control over what the ad may be.

We are exploring other means of providing this service to you at this time. For now, we ask your patience as we work through the concern. In the meantime, if you receive an ad that is objectionable to you, we would appreciate your notifying the school, and holding onto it so that it may be forwarded to proper personnel.

Scholastic Book Order-

If you still would like to order, I will hold the order until Sept. 5th due to the holiday. .

Field Trips– Please look for the information about our field trips this year in the Monday folder. If you have any questions, I can answer them at Open House.

Accelerated Reader, a reading and comprehension program, is not available to us at this time. We hope to begin the program in a few weeks.

Open House—Please join us this Thursday for Open House from 6-7 in our classroom. There will be an PTA over our closed circuit TV and then I will share things about our classroom. I look forward to seeing you!

PTA Fundraiser– The fundraiser came home last week. Please participate if possible. Our school gains such much from our fundraising through PTA.
