We had a great field trip on Friday to the Cherokee Outdoor YMCA! Students learned about long ago and today! We listened to a storyteller and learned about toys from long ago. Students also were able to decorate their own toy tops! We took a tractor ride through the woods and each student picked out their own pumpkin! What a fun day!
Thank you to all of our special visitors we will have this week...Firefighter regarding fire safety, Dr. Jim for speaking to our class about bones and healthy eating, Mrs. Seigler (our media specialist) for reading Crazy Hair Day to us, and Mrs. Black for reading a special Halloween book and craving our class pumpkin!

Language Arts/Reading: Letters: X and Z, Writer's Workshop - Informational Writing (labeling pictures with beginning and ending sounds, turtle talk, and continuing to focus on illustrations matching story, details, and ideas) , main idea (continue to review literary elements- title, author, illustrator, title page, character, setting, problem and solution), guided reading groups, comprehension, sequencing, sight words, matching pictures and words, handwriting, phonics, beginning and ending sounds, rhyming words, computers, and book buddies.
Math: Daily Math RAP (calendar, months of the year, days of the week, today, yesterday, tomorrow, ones, daily number work, seasons - fall, number line, power line, graphing, patterns, power line, penny, nickel, dime, fair trades with coins, ordinal numbers 1st-10th), Mega Math, 2 and 3-D shapes, the great shape hunt around the school, solid figures, counting numbers to 10, counting objects to show numbers 0-10, writing numbers 0-10, comparing sets, equal sets, more than, less than, problem solving, review positional words, sorting, and colors.
Science: Motion -How do I investigate different types of motion?
Health: Safety rules, medicine safety, and drugs (Red Ribbon Week activities too!)
Guidance: All about self
Ways to help at home!
Practice letter, letter sounds, sight words, and writing their name and numbers daily. Continue working on their home address too. Read nightly!
