Please remember to read every night and write it in their folder.  Also, make sure your child has four things done for homework.  We would like everyone to have their homework this Friday!

Highlights from the Classroom:

Language Arts/Reading:  DOL (Daily Oral Language), phonics (blending new words), handwriting, guided reading groups, Writer's Workshop, writing process, narrative writing, main idea and details, and special shared reading with our friends from third grade! We will also be practicing our test taking skills.  The CRCT is just around the corner!

Math: Daily Math RAP (calendar, months of the year, days of the week, odd/even numbers, tally marks, counting money, tens/ones, number of the day - making addition and subtraction sentences, base ten blocks, less than/greater than, 100-chart, daily number work). We have also added math work in the mornings! The students are practicing math and problem solving through out the day! We have started working with money!  Please allow your children to count your spare change and quiz them on their pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters.  We will be studying bills.  This will include ones, fives, tens, and twenty! Money is a very important subject for our students and they need to be practicing at school and at home.

Science, Health, Social Studies: This week we have been talking about dental health.  The students are learning about how we can keep our teeth clean and healthy.  Please make sure they are brushing at least twice a day for three minutes.  Ask them ways they can take care of their teeth!

Accelerated Reader (AR):  We are working on our new AR goals! Please make sure you child is reading every night.  The nine weeks are almost over and your child should have 18 test finished by the end. Please ask your child how many test they have passed, and encourage them to read, read, read!
