The End is Near!

Wow!  I can hardly believe that next Friday is the last day of school!  We have lots of things planned for next week.  I hope all the students enjoy their last week of elementary school!

CRCT results are supposed to be in on Monday, May 18.  I'll be sending home a letter regarding your child's results as soon as I can.  Please look for this information next week.

My new grandson, John Lucas (Jack) Foster, arrived Tuesday at 2:55 PM.  He weighs 7 lbs. 5 oz. and he is 19.25 inches long.  Mother, Daddy, baby, and grandparents are doing fine!

 This will be the last edition of Foster Facts for this year.  I hope you have a fantastic summer! 

Field Day is Here!

Our Field Day is Tuesday from 11:35-2:00.  We are looking forward to a wonderful day!

Field Trip Time!

Our end of the year field trip is finally here!  I hope you received a letter yesterday regarding our expectations and what your child can and cannot bring with him or her on the trip.  Please return the slip with your name and phone # ASAP.  We need the slip so we can get in touch with you in case of emergency.  Thank you!  I  know we will have a wonderful day!

Please be sure to return the envelope that was sent home last week with your address and the appropriate number of stamps.  We need it for mailing the final report card and any other school related materials to you.  Thanks!

Mid-CRCT Update

So far, so good!  We have the math test on Thursday, science on Friday, and social studies on Monday.  Be sure your child continues to get a good night's sleep each night.  We will get through this!  Thank you!

CRCT Time!

It's that time of year again--time for CRCT!  We will begin testing on Tuesday and continue through the following Monday.  You can help your child by making sure he/she gets plenty of rest, has 2 number 2 pencils, has a good breakfast before coming to school, and has a good attitude for the test.  We walk a fine line between stressing them out and encouraging the students to do their best and to check their work carefully before they stop working.  I feel confident that our class will do a good job!

There are still a few students for whom I don't have a permission slip or money for the field trip.  Please take care of this ASAP.  May 8 will be here before we know it!  Thank you!

FYI:  I still have 5th grade T-shirts for sale.  They are $7.00. We'd like the students to wear them on the field trip day.  Also, Field Day T-shirts are on sale through Friday, April 24.

Spring Has Sprung!

Spring has sprung indeed at Dowell Elementary.  It seems like everywhere you look you see signs of growth and beauty.  With those signs also come that "antsy-ness" that comes from wanting to be outside instead of inside doins schoolwork.  Parents, you can help me with this by reminding your child that there is still more to learn.  We have one more week before Spring Break, then one week before CRCT when we return.  It's not time to let down now.  After CRCT we will still be learning new things.  Let's help our students by enforcing bedtimes, making sure they are prepared for class, and holding them accountable for their behavior.  Thank you!  We will make it through this year!  : )

Report Cards Come Home Thursday!

Report cards will come home on Thursday.  Please review the report with your child, sign the signature card and return the card to me on Friday.  I will also be sending you the benchmark test results with the report card.  You may keep the results and decide  how you will address deficiencies at home. Thank you!
