Hello again! It has been awhile since we've done the blog.  We took some pictures of the kids with the hats that they made for Dr. Seuss week. We also made green eggs and ham which the kids really enjoyed. As you can see in looking at the pictures , we have 2 new students in our class. Madison (Maddi) joined our class on Monday.  This is her first time in a Pre-K class and she did very well. She seemed to enjoy her first day at school. Then Manuel joined our class today (Wednesday). He came to us from another school and fit right in with all of the kids. We all are very happy to have our new friends.  Hope  that you enjoy all the pictures. We will add more in a few weeks.

Sorry that it's been awile since we have put pictures on the blog, but there has been something wrong with our server. But as you can see, things are much better now. These pictures are from Thomas' birthday, Mr. Lawson's visit, and the holidays. You can see how much fun the kids are having just by looking at the pictures. I hope that all of you had a wonderful and restful break. Now that the kids are back, we have a lot of work to do. We will be continuing with the theme of the week, letter of the week, number of the week, and color of the week. Please review these things with your child every night at home and encourage them to do the "homework" that we send home. We're working on the children's writing skills and reading skills by exposing them to the written word. Our theme for the month of January is winter. We will now be doing a book of the week. It will go along with the theme. We will be discussing vocabulary from the book, and talking about the characters in the story, and the main idea.  These concepts may seem high for your child, but we are giving them exposure to all the different concepts and getting them ready for kindergarten. Here are the pictures from our Trick or Treating today! You can see how much fun the kids were having and they all looked so cute in their Halloween costumes! They have quite a bit of candy to bring home with them.

Sorry that I haven't written in the BLOG for awhile. I hope that you enjoyed the pictures that were psoted. The pictures were from activities here at school and our field trip to Sun Valley Beach. The kids had a very enjoyable time on the field trip. Vanessa's dad came along on our field trip and he seemed to have a good time too. Next week we will finish up our unit on Halloween. We will take the kids Trick or Treating to several of the classes here at school on Wednesday. Then on Friday, we are going to bake a pumpkin pie to show what is made from the inside of a pumpkin.  From November 5th to November 2oth, our theme will be Thanksgiving. I will be sending home the vocabulary and pictures the week of the 5th. Remember that Thanksgiving break is from November 21st - November25th.

Email Notification Service

Parents
The service that we use to automatically notify you when the blog is updated has changed their terms of service in such a way that an ad will begin showing up at the bottom of the email that comes to you. Your email address is still not being shared with anyone other than the school! The mere placement of advertising in school communications is of concern to us, especially since we have no control over what the ad may be.

We are exploring other means of providing this service to you at this time. For now, we ask your patience as we work through the concern. In the meantime, if you receive an ad that is objectionable to you, we would appreciate your notifying the school, and holding onto it so that it may be forwarded to proper personnel.

        Parents:  We have had a great start to the year! The kids did some really cute activities to go along with our "All About Me" unit. This week we talked about apples and the different things that you can do with apples. Ms. Anna brought in her apple peeler/corer and  showed the kids how to easily peel apples. The kids got to taste 4 different kinds of apples: red, green, yellow, and yellow/red. They all love apples! Today we made apple crisp - YUM, YUM!!!!!!! Next week we will be talking about the different kinds of weather and then we will move onto our fall unit. Be sure to go over the picture cards with your child and make sure that they use their words when they request things from you at home. Enjoy the pictures!

  Parents:

We made it through the first week!!!!!!! The kids did a great job this week. They are still learning each other's names and our names too. This week we talked about the "tools" that we use in school - pencils, paper, crayons, scissors, and markers. We discussed the classroom rules which are as follows: 1. Watching eyes. 2. Listening ears. 3. Helping hands. 4. Walking feet. The next 2 weeks we will be discussing "The One and Only Special Me". We'll be sharing pictures of our families, doing some activities that have to do with them when they were babies, talking about our friends, and discussing  all the different feelings that we each have.  I will send home a list of the vocabulary with the kids on Monday.
