Email Notification Service

Parents
The service that we use to automatically notify you when the blog is updated has changed their terms of service in such a way that an ad will begin showing up at the bottom of the email that comes to you. Your email address is still not being shared with anyone other than the school! The mere placement of advertising in school communications is of concern to us, especially since we have no control over what the ad may be.

We are exploring other means of providing this service to you at this time. For now, we ask your patience as we work through the concern. In the meantime, if you receive an ad that is objectionable to you, we would appreciate your notifying the school, and holding onto it so that it may be forwarded to proper personnel.

Thank you for your patience!

We have a field trip coming up at the end of the month to Red Top Mt.  Permission slips will be coming home soon.

Fall is in the air and we are very excited.

This week we are working on Cereal Box book projects.  We are working on these in class and students are allowed to type the assigment on computers at home. This is a way to tie in the Literary Elements that we have been learning about.  Book project will be due Monday, Sept. 25.

We are studying:

Rounding decimals in Math,

Regions in Social Studies,

Summaries in Reading,

Solar System in Science, (Look for Study Guiden to come home this week and test next Wednesday, 9-27)

Subjects/Predicates in English.

Don't forget that this Wednesday is Early Release day.

We could use paper towels and treats for the treat jar if anyone would like to donate to the class.

August 25, 2006

We are getting into our daily routine and everyone seems to be adjusting well.  Please help your child become more organized and responsible by asking to see agendas (daily) and Friday folders (weekly).  These will help you to be constantly aware of how your child is progressing.  Check registers need to be signed on Fridays as well.

This week we will be learning about:

Language Arts:  Subjects-Predicates, paragraphs, story maps and Literary Elements.  We are also learning spelling patterns.

Math:  Place value, comparing and ordering numerals, rounding

Science: Solar System

Social Studies:  maps and regions of the United States.

Students should know their basic multiplication facts as we will begin working on multiplication shortly.

Please make sure that your child has a composition book, pair of scissors, and a dry-erase marker.  This will help greatly as we work on class activities.

Several of you have volunteered to come in and help in the classroom.  I need volunteers to run copies and other tasks for me.  If you have a free day, please let me know.  I could also use a volunteer to work with small groups of students.  I appreciate your help so much.

Have a safe and relaxing weekend.

Don't forget to email me at any time and I will get back to you as quickly as possible:  Brenda.Hall@cobbk12.org
