Chinese New Year

                                                Happy New Year to All!

Our class has started off the new year in a very positive way.

I am very proud of all the hard work from all.  I have stresssed

the importance of the next few weeks.  We are getting closer to

the CRCT testing.   The first half of the year is all review from

many fourth grade skills, and now we will begin learning more

new skills.  So please take the time to review graded contracts

and tests that are sent home in Thursday folders.

It has come to my attention that many students

have not  mastered  their multiplication facts or long division

steps.  These two skills are critical since both are needed

in the areas we will be focusing on this nine weeks.  Please

consider the folllowing ideas for helping your student learn

the multiplication facts.

****Buy multiplication flash cards or make your own using index cards. Then quiz your

student daily using the cards until the student can quickly and accurately state each product.

****Go to School Box, Wal-Mart, or Target and buy an activity book where students are working

with the multiplication facts.

****http://math.about.com/bltricks.htm  This site has hints and short cuts you and your student

can learn to help with the memorization of the multiplication facts.

Email Notification Service

Parents
The service that we use to automatically notify you when the blog is updated has changed their terms of service in such a way that an ad will begin showing up at the bottom of the email that comes to you. Your email address is still not being shared with anyone other than the school! The mere placement of advertising in school communications is of concern to us, especially since we have no control over what the ad may be.

We are exploring other means of providing this service to you at this time. For now, we ask your patience as we work through the concern. In the meantime, if you receive an ad that is objectionable to you, we would appreciate your notifying the school, and holding onto it so that it may be forwarded to proper personnel.

Thank you for your patience!
