Thank you all for taking the time to attend conferences this week. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to speak to you about your child's progress!
Next Tuesday, we will begin learning about Thomas Jefferson. If your child would like to obtain some background knowledge on Jefferson, guide his or her "research" towards Jefferson's early life, his presidency, his part in the Declaration of Independence, Monticello (not to be confused with monster jello...I have heard it called that before!), the Louisiana Purchase, and foods he introduced to America after a trip to France. I hope the class is as enthusiastic about Jefferson as they were about Franklin! There will not be any "optional homework" for this unit due to time.
Also, the 1st grade team is asking for each child to bring in a CHEAP white pillowcase. I just wanted to give you the heads-up in case you are out shopping over the weekend. An official grade-level letter will be send home later.
