Writing Lesson - Simple Directions

This last grading period we are learning how to write a story in paragraph form that tells simple directions.  The mini-lesson you see here is "How to Dye an Easter Egg."  We actually dyed the eggs together and broke the directions down into segments of first, next, then, and last.  All props were removed and the children wrote their directions the very next day.  We were very proud of their writing.  Please stop by our room to see how well they did.  Click on pictures to enlarge.

Thank you parents!

Wow is all we can say!  We had over 550 eggs for our Easter Egg Hunt.  As you can tell from the amount of eggs that went home, it was a huge success.  We could not have done it without your help.  Here are a few pictures of the hunt.

Chattahoochee Nature Center

We enjoyed the lesson brought by a naturalist from the CNC.  Most of us were brave enough to pet the animals, some a little timid,  but all really enjoyed the day.ClassMarch09 003   ClassMarch09 001  ClassMarch09 002 ClassMarch09 004

Little Red Hen Day

We had a great time reading several different versions of the classic book "The Little Red Hen."  We did some comparing and contrasting of the different versions and reviewed  sequencing, as well.  Then we chose our favorite version and did a dramatic play.  The children were the actors and actresses. Afterwards Mrs. Barnes helped the children mix up the batter and bake a loaf of real bread.  Yum was it good warm with butter.  Check out the pictures of our day.  Click on pictures to enlarge.

Cute website to review money

Here is a link to a cute website that your child can use to review coins.  When they answer a question correctly, they begin to build parts that eventually make a robot.

Wearin' of the Green

On Tuesday, March 17 we will be celebrating St. Patrick's Day.  Please have your child wear green.  Last year a leprechaun visited our room.  We will be building a trap this year to try and catch the little guy.  Who knows, maybe we will get lucky this year!         Sahmrockline
