Creative Drama

Hpim1035 We have been doing some creative drama with our Literacy Centers.  We have focused on some of the traditional children's classics like The Three Little Pigs and The Little Red Hen.  The children have listened to several versions in listening centers and read alouds.  To show how well they comprehended the stories, they were able to be the stars of their own production!  Here you see portions of The Little Red Hen. A Tasty Test on Symmetry

We integrated Science, Art, and Math with this activity.  We created butterflies from pretzels with icing and mini M &M's.  Symmetry had already been introduced, so to asses the children's knowledge, we allowed them to create edible butterflies.  Before they could eat them, they had to show us symmetry in the wings.  We are glad to say, all children passed the test and got to eat their yummy creation.Hpim1007 Hpim1011 Hpim1009 Hpim1012 Hpim1013 Hpim1014 Hpim1013_2

Easter Fun

A HUGE thank you to all our parents for a great supply of wonderful eggs for our Egg Hunt.  We had a blast hunting the eggs, sorting, adding, graphing, and dividing what we found.  Check out the pictures and be sure to look at the bush.  We found some eggs in a real bird's nest.  After the hunt we had a yummy bird's nest snack made from chow mein noodles, melted chocolate, and jelly bean eggs.  We thank Miss Bell, our KSU student for bringing and helping us create this wonderful snack. Wearin' of the Green

St. Patrick's Day was great fun.  We made a trap to catch the mischievious little leprechaun that was spotted in our school, but he outsmarted us!  He visited our room while we were out and played some fun tricks on us, but we didn't catch him.  We made a marvelous magical dessert that turned GREEN when we added the milk, played some fun Irish games, did an Irish jig, and had some integrated lessons tied in.   Of course we all wore GREEN!Hpim0963 Hpim0965 Hpim0966 Hpim0967 Hpim0969

Happy Birthday to Jordan!

We all enjoyed a wonderful birthday with Jordan.  Mom was kind enough to send in a wonderful cupcake cake, goodie bags, and juice boxes for all.  Even Mr. Manson dropped in and celebrated with us.  We sure do hope those wishes he made come true!Hpim0956 Hpim0957 (Click on pictures to enlarge).

Thank you parents!

Thanks again for the wonderful support in sending valentines for the children and the delicious snacks, juice, and paper goods that helped us celebrate.  We had great fun playing sight word Valentine Bingo, sorting, graphing, and adding our conversation candies.  We also watched a video on the history of Valentine's Day, and read several Valentine's books.  A special thanks to our KSU Toss Student, Miss Bell for bringing some extra goodies.Kissing_lips We had a lovely day!

Clifford's Birthday

Hpim0945_2 We had great fun celebrating Clifford's birthday on Friday, Feb. 15th.  We read several Clifford books, had a Clifford puppet visit, dressed as Clifford and made yummy "dogbones" from peanut butter, graham cracker crumbs, and honey.  It was a fun and educational day, as well.
