Email Notification Service

Parents
The service that we use to automatically notify you when the blog is updated has changed their terms of service in such a way that an ad will begin showing up at the bottom of the email that comes to you. Your email address is still not being shared with anyone other than the school! The mere placement of advertising in school communications is of concern to us, especially since we have no control over what the ad may be.

We are exploring other means of providing this service to you at this time. For now, we ask your patience as we work through the concern. In the meantime, if you receive an ad that is objectionable to you, we would appreciate your notifying the school, and holding onto it so that it may be forwarded to proper personnel.

Thank you for your patience!

Thank you to everyone that came to Open House!  Mrs. Wooton and I enjoyed speaking with everyone.

There is something that we forgot to mention at Open House and that is the grading scale.  The students enter the A-F grading scale this year.  The scale is as follows:

100-90= A

80-89=  B

74-79=  C

70-73=  D

69-0=  F

This Friday marks the halfway point of this grading period.  Mrs. Wooton and I will only send out an academic alert if he/she has a C in an academic area or if behavior is a concern.  If your child receives an alert please sign the bottom portion of the slip and return to school.

On Friday, September 28, 2007, the 4th grade will be attending a field trip to Red Top Mountain.  The children will get to experience life during colonial times.  It's an awesome field trip!  Permission slips will be coming home soon.  Please send in the money ASAP if you haven't already prepaid.

UPCOMING DATES:

9-11:  Stevi B's pizza night

9-14:  Academic alerts sent home

9-19:  EARLY RELEASE

9-28:  Red Top Mountain Field Trip

Well, we have had an awesome first two weeks!  The students are beginning to get back into the "swing" of school.  It's a big step going from 3rd to 4th grade.  The students find themselves being much more independent during 4th grade and it can be quite a transition.

Thank you for getting your child all the necessary supplies for school.  If your child does not have a 5 subject notebook, please see that they get one.  Your child will be taking notes through out the year in this notebook as well as keeping papers, etc.  Also, thank you for the band aids, tissues, etc. that were donated to the class.

We have jumped into our subject areas with both feet.  We are currently studying:

Math- Place Value from the hundredths to the millions

English- Types of sentences

Language Arts- Narrative literature and writing

Social Studies- Map skills and US regions

Science- Weather

Yeah!!!!  CRCT testing is complete!  Parents, thank you for your help and support during this long, hard week of testing!

It is hard to believe that the school year is coming to a close, but we still have lots to do!

Way to go Bryan!  He was the top cookie dough seller for the entire school!

AR- The students are feverishly working on meeting their 4th nine weeks AR goals.  In fact, Alise and Magall have met their goals!  Way to go!  All library books will be due to the media center on May 11.  Please encourage your children to be reading at least 30 minutes each night.

Field Day- 4th grade Field Day will be held on Tuesday, May 15th.  Time to be announced.

Academic Alerts will go home on Thursday, April 26.  They are  to be sent home on the 27th, but I will not be here.  I like to talk to the children before sending home the alerts, so I don't want a sub to pass them out.

We have  PTA on Thursday, April 26.

Please continue to send in pictures and/or money.

The last day of school is May 25, but I'm sure your children are well aware of this date!!!

4 MORE DAYS!

Spring Break is right around the corner, but spring fever has hit hard in the classroom!  I hope everyone has a restful and well deserved break.

Congratulations to Jazmin, Meyer, Abigail, Christopher and Magall for meeting their AR goal for the 3rd nine week grading period!  I rewarded them with a voucher to purchase something in the book fair.  I hope they enjoyed shopping!

It is hard to believe that we are in our last nine week grading period of the year.  This school year has gone quickly, but we have one more large hurdle to clear.  Yes, you guessed it, the CRCT!  We will be taking the test two weeks after we return from spring break.  I stapled in each child's agenda a username and password so they may practice for the CRCT online at home.  You simply go to Dowell's homepage and scroll down past the pictures.  You will see a link to click on the practice for the CRCT.  Good luck!

Upcoming Dates:

4/16-4/20- CRCT Testing

4/26- PTA

4/27- Academic alerts sent home

5/15- 4th and 5th Field Day

5/25- Last Day
