It is so wonderful seeing you at conferences!!!  Thanks for coming and hearing about your awesome children! I wanted to remind you that there is no regular blog/letter this week.  Please refer to last week's letter/blog for more information.

• Study spelling list 9 words for tomorrow's assessment.
• Review vocabulary words in today's blog.
• Read AR daily.

Spelling Assessment

There will be an assessment this Friday on list 9 words located in the back of the 2nd Grade Handbooks which were sent home last Thursday.  There will be NO spelling assessment the week of October 24th due to conferences & early release. We will have a spelling assessment on list 10 on Friday, November 4th. 

Reading Vocabulary – 10/31 - actor, director, script, props, costumes, stage, performance, audience, cast

Language Arts Skills & Vocabulary –  singualr & plural possessive nouns

Math Skills and Vocabulary – 

• place value to 999
• 2 digit subtraction with & without regrouping (borrowing)
• counting money using bills & coins

Science  Vocabulary – energy,  forms of energy, heat, light

Social Studies Vocabulary – Mary Musgrove

AR 

• Students should read at least 2 or more AR (or have 12 stickers) books by tomorrow with an AR score of 80% or higher, 4 by October 28th, & 6 by November 4th.  Reading chapter books earns extra stickers (25 pages equals 1 sticker, 50 pages equals 2 stickers, etc.).  
• We are beginning a new 9 week grading period.  Students are working towards our new AR goal which will be at least 18 books or more by the end of the grading period.

ETC.

• If at all possible, students need to be here on time each day & remain until the end of the school day.  Important skills & testing may be missed when your child  arrives late or leaves early.  Thanks so much for your help.
• Please have your child correct work in The Thursday Times each week.  Thanks!
• Thanks for the supplies & snacks that have been sent in for the class.  Your kindness is appreciated by all.  :)
• Conferences -  I am still missing a few conference forms.  Please return them by tomorrow.  I am looking forward to seeing you next week.  Thank you so much!!

Field Trips

• The New Echota field trip permission forms if you have not already done so.
• Students who do not return permission forms won't go on the field trip. They will remain at school with another teacher working on assignments for the day.

• This is the end of the 9 week grading period.  Those students who have reached their goal will go to the AR party.   1st, 2nd, & 3rd place prizes will also be given.
