Spelling Assessment

There will be an assessment this Friday on list 13 words located in the back of the 2nd Grade Handbooks which were sent home last Thursday.   Please begin studying list 14 after tomorrow.

Reading Vocabulary – poem, repetition, rhythm, images, snowflakes, parachuting

Language Arts Skills & Vocabulary –  writing paragraphs with a main idea, supporting details, correct capitalization/punctuation- friendly letter, heading, greeting, body, closing, signature, comma (using commas correctly in a letter & a series), using possessive nouns correctly (singular & plural: ex. 1 boy's coat -all the boys' coats), possessive pronouns

Math Skills and Vocabulary – 

  • place value to 999
  • 2 digit subtraction with & without regrouping (borrowing)
  • subtraction using estimating
  • checking subtraction with addition
  • counting money using bills & coins
  • giving back change from $10
  • Venn diagrams

AR 

  • Students should read at least 12 or more AR books with an AR score of 80% or higher by tomorrow.  Reading chapter books earns extra stickers (25 pages equals 1 sticker, 50 pages equals 2 stickers, etc.).  
  • We are beginning a new 9 week grading period.  Students are working towards our new AR goal which will be at least 18 books or more by the end of the grading period.  If students reach their goal before the end of the 9 weeks, they should continue reading at least 2 AR books per week.

Dinner Theater - Dec. 8th 5:30-7:45 pm

  • Dinner ($3.00) 5:30-6:30 pm
  • Performance at 6:45pm 

Holiday Crafts

On Monday, a letter was sent home about holiday crafts that we will be making.  Please send back the attached envelope by tomorrow .

  • We will try to reschedule the New Echota field trip which was canceled due to rain.  I will send out more information as I receive it.
  • Barnes & Noble Night is tonight.  See the enclosed information in The Thursday Times folder.
  • Please make sure your child is here every day & on time.  We will be doing testing & evaluations from now until the holiday break.
