There will be an assessment this Friday (tomorrow) on list 23 words located in the back of the 2nd Grade Handbooks.   Start studying list 24 after tomorrow's assessment.

Language Arts Skills to Review for CRCT: 

• using possessive nouns correctly (ex. a boy's coat -all the boys' coats)
• combining sentences using and or the word or.  (Jo is playing.  Sara is playing. = Jo and Sara are playing.)  (Mother bakes cookies.  Mother decorates cookies. = Mother bakes and decorates cookies.)
• using quotation marks correctly ("We need to go grocery shopping," said Mary.)

Field Trip - The Fernbank field trip is Wednesday, February 8th.  Please send a snack for your child & a lunch if your child isn't getting a lunch at school.  Thanks!

• This Wednesday, 2nd grade is going on a field trip to the Fernbank Museum. Please make sure your child brings a sack lunch if he/she is not getting a lunch from the lunchroom.  Students will also need to bring a snack that day.   Any student who has not returned the signed permission form will stay at school with another teacher.
• Report Cards- Please return signed signature cards & envelopes.  Thanks! 
• Many students still need dry erase markers.  We use them everyday.

Cosmic Bowling

Come to Dowell this Thursday evening, February 2nd, for a fun night of bowling, food, and more! Bowling sessions start at 5:30 pm and continue until 8pm, and we will hold a PTA meeting at 6:30 pm. In addition, pizza, sno cones, cotton candy, popcorn, drinks, and glo necklaces will be for sale.
