It was so nice to see so many parents showing up to open house!

We appreciate all of the donations coming in from the Wish Tree! Parent involvement and support is a vital part of the academic success of our 5th graders this challenging year!

 It's hard to believe, but there are only 3 weeks left of the first quarter. Here are the standards we are currently covering:

Math: Modeling the Multiplication and Division of Decimals, Multiplying and Dividing with Decimals, and Analyzing patterns when multiplying decimals by 10, 100, 1,000, 0.1, 0.01, and 0.001.

Please have students practice multiplication and division math facts! Each student is responsible for memorizing these facts as soon as possible!

Welcome to 5^th grade!

We have been very busy in the first two weeks of school! Listed below are some of the topics that we have covered so far.

Math:

Place Value to the Thousandths, Comparing and Ordering Decimals, Multiples, Factors, Prime and Composite Numbers

Bill of Rights, Amendments to the Constitution, and Due Process

Science:

Constructive and Destructive Forces (volcanoes, earthquakes, faults, weathering, erosion, deposition)

Reading:

Grammar:

Parts of Speech review, nouns, action verbs, being verbs, verb phrases, linking verbs, and pronouns.

Spelling:

Parents,

     Thank you for all of the items donated from our wish list! We appreciate your generosity! We still have several students who do not have scissors, so if anyone has any extra student scissors please send them with your student to school.

     Our classroom can be chilly at times! We only spend 15 minutes of our day outside at recess, and the rest in the classroom. Please send a sweater, or light jacket for your student to wear when needed.

     We will be in touch very soon with the parent volunteers to discuss how you can help out at school. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful group of students this year! Ask them about our chance jar and our class celebrations we are trying to earn.

Open House is on September 15^th. Details about Open House will be sent home with your students. We look forward to the opportunity to meet all of our students’ parents!
