What we are learning:
These are the essential questions for our Standards and Units of Study:
Social Studies – How do I identify goods that people make and services that people provide for each other? Students identified different goods and services. We also identified people that are producers and consumers. One of the interesting facts was that a Post Office provides both goods and services. It is a service that your mail is delivered to your home and you can purchase stamps and other items from the Post Office as goods.
Phonics – How do I read short vowel sounds in one syllable words? We have studied and identified words that contain the short ă, ĕ, ĭ, ŏ, and ŭ vowels. Look around the house or in the neighborhood and find examples of words that contain short vowels.
Reading – How do I make connections between text and/or personal experiences? We have read and made connections with different Easter stories. We have read such stories as Bently and Egg, Eggbert the Slightly Cracked Egg, and Happy Easter, Little Critter.
Mathematics – How do I apply addition and subtraction to two digit numbers? Students have practiced adding ones and tens place values and subtracting from the ones and tens place. Just to let you know, this is one of the hardest skills for 1st Graders to master, but the class is doing a great job, thanks to your help daily with homework assignments.
