Reading Night - March 22

This year we will be doing Reading Night differently than in years past.  We are hoping that this reading night will be very informative for parents and fun for the students.

For the students:  we have a story teller that will be here to entertain the students with music and stories.  He will also provide an autograph session for students and their parents at the end of the night.

For the parents: there will be four different “classes” for the parents.  They can choose one of the following:

                                               CRCT Prep (in Spanish)

                                               CRCT Prep (in English)

                                               Internet Safety

                                               Literacy Program for Kindergarteners

The schedule for Reading Night is:

6-6:20-PTA meeting in lunchroom

K,1,2- in the gym with the story teller

3,4,5- in their grade level hallways for Dr. Seuss fun*****

End of the Year Field Trip

Our “End of the Year” field trip will be on May 4th.  There is a letter that will come home today that will explain the cost and the payment plan available.  Parents will be welcome to come on the trip but will NOT be able to ride the bus.  I do apologize for any inconvenience.  We will be getting charter buses and there will only be enough room for the students and teachers.  If you think you might be interested in accompanying our class on the trip, please send me a note.  Parents may be able to set up a car pool that would follow the buses.  I am unsure of the cost for parents at this time but I will send that information home as soon as I receive it.  This trip is on a Friday.  Please be advised that this is an all day trip.  We expect to leave at 8am and return around 8pm.

Bridge to Terabithia

We just finished the book Bridge to Terabithia on Wednesday.  We will review on Thursday and Friday.  We will test on Monday.  We are planning to attend the movie on Saturday, February 17th.  Each student will need to be accompanied by a parent.  We will be attending the matinee at 4:30 and it will last around 1 hour and 45 minutes.  Check out some pictures of the kids crossing the bridge into their "Terabithia Classroom" below.

Hawks v. Wizards - All A's Celebration

On Monday, we saw the Atlanta Hawks play.  They played the Washington Wizards.  I had a great time!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Nick R.

On October 23, 2006, we went to a Hawks basketball game at night.  Nick, David, Katie, Jensen and I went to the game.  It was a close game, 105 to 110.  The Wizards beat us!  We had a popcorn fight.  It was so much fun.  I'm glad I got all A's!!!!!!!!! - Ellisen H.

My trip to the Hawks game was great.  The Hawks lost 105 to 110 to the Wizards.  I also liked throwing popcorn at David.  It was great!!!!!!! - Jensen R.

On October 23, 2006, we went to the Hawks game.  When the people came around and gave these bangers.  If they were taking a free throw shot, we would bang them together to make them miss.  We had this big popcorn fight that Mr. McConnell started.  By the way, the Hawks lost 110 to 105.  I went with my dad, Nick, his dad, Mr. McConnell, Tara, Riley, Jensen, Katie, and Ellisen. - David J.

Movie - Ellisen, Jensen & Katie

We went to the movies on Saturday to see How To Eat Fried Worms.  The movie was fun because we got to watch it with friends.  The movie was about a boy named Billy was dared to eat ten worms in one day.  The loser had to put worms in his pants and walk down the halls.  Billy had a weak stomach and didn't know if he could eat the worms.  They had many different ways to fry the worms, it was disgusting.  It ended up being that two people that put worms in their pants.  We had a great time.
