Welcome to the Science Lab!

Dowell Elementary now has a hands-on Science Lab! The lab is part of the specialists' rotation, along with Music, Art, and P.E.  Students participate in science experiments and activities that help them build critical thinking skills using the scientific method. The goal of the lessons is to engage the students so that they want to learn more on their own.

Art Show

Parents, family and friends, please mark your calendars and join the celebration of your children's art creations and a performance of the Dowell Singers. This is a fundraiser for both the music and visual arts programs.  Please come enjoy this exciting evening with us. Every child will have an original piece of artwork in the show! Also, the kindergarten students are singing 2 songs that night! We have been practicing, and we are very excited. Please have your child wear something, red, white, or green that night. Students need to be accompanied by an adult, and they need to arrive here at school at 6:45. The performance will be over at 7:30.  We will have refreshments for sale and singing in the cafeteria and the art show will be in the gym!

Sight Word Information

As per our discussions during conference week, I am attaching a list of the letters, words, numbers, and punctuation marks we’ve studied so far. Although most students recognize the entire alphabet, students should definitely have mastered these specific letters. Please work with your child to help him/her recognize this information.

Breakfast of Champions

Congratulations to Lauryn Porter for being selected to attend the Breakfast of Champions in
September. Lauryn attended the breakfast with her family. The character word of this month is Integrity. All the students are working hard to show integrity, and we discuss it each morning during announcements. Although teachers may only nominate one student each month, all the students work hard to show great character.
