Dowell Singers Notes: September Issue

Hi everyone! I'm tryng something new.... here is the first issue of the Dowell Singers Notes.  This newsletter should help with communication.  Let me know what you think!

Attention Chorus Parents...

Parent orientation meetins were held after the first rehearsal, and during open house.  If you did attend, thank you!  If not, I have posted a powerpoint below.  Please contact me if you have questions.  

There is a forms packet that needs to be completed before the first field trip.  Please email me at sandy.swint@cobbk12.org, and I will send it home with your student.  If you picked up a form at the orientation, please make sure it is returned as soon as possible.  

Fifth Grade Honor Chorus students will be announced Friday.  

Singathon:  Parents who would like to help organize the event, please email me.   We will also need workers, grill masters, music helpers, and recess supervisors during anytime from 2:00pm until 5:30pm.  Fourth grade students will be asked to donate chips and fifth grade students, two liter beverages.  We will also need paper products, ketchup and mustard.  Let me know if you can help with donations, thank you!  Specific information will come home Sept. 28th for sponsorship, and how things will go!  Thanks in advance for your help.

Recorders...Recorders....Recorders!

The music room is alive with the sounds of 5th grade recorder karate testing.  Thank you parents for supporting this valuable program and encouraging your student to practice.  If your student does not pass a belt (test) on the first go round, please be assured, they will master the belt with practice.  We musicians learn that to play something it takes work and repeated efforts!  A valuable lesson for life.... 5th graders who pass purple belt will be eligible to join the Dowell Recorder Ensemble which will meet Mondays at 7:20am.  This group will perform at several events this year.  Keep practicing those belts!  

Dowell Singers: First Rehearsal 9/14

Attention 2010-11 Dowell Singers, please report to the music room on Wednesday, September 14^th at 2:30 pm.   Pick up should be promptly at 3:30 pm.  Students will place book bags in the hall, and proceed directly into the music room for roll call.  There will be a brief mandatory parent informational meeting offered either at 3:30 after chorus pick up, or during Open House at 6:10pm on Sept. 15^th in the music room.   Thanks so much, and see you Wednesday!  

 

 

 

Chorus Sign ups - update

Thank you for your interest in the Dowell Singers.  Applications are now closed.  We are awaiting teacher recommendations at this time, will notify students of acceptance next week.  The first rehearsal will be Sept. 14th from 2:30-3:30.  Thank you for your patience.
