Rockin' and Rollin'

We are in full swing now!!!!

"I think the one lesson I have learned is that there is no substitute for paying attention."    Diane Sawyer

Thank you to all of those who attended a conference. We are excited to get this second nine weeks started now that parents and teachers are working in unison to help the children become better learners. We will have many events and activites taking place from not until Christmas Break so please stay tuned.

Things to remember:

·        check and sign your child's agenda daily for behavior and homework assignments

·        homework is given every Monday and is to be returned every Friday

·        please check and sign all homework packets or it will be considered late

·        3 - 5 AR test are expected to be taken and passed with 80% or higher by each Thursday

·        donations are appreciated and accepted throughout the year, and we are always in need of CUPS, tissue, snacks, hand soap, pencils, craft supplies, etc.

Academics for:

November 5th thru November 16th

Writing: Narrative Writing - your child will take what they have learned about paragraph writing and apply that to a piece of narrative writing; creating a story that has at least five paragraphs with a beginning, middle and an end (BME), focusing on all standards (engaging the reader, sensory detail, establishing literary elements,  closure, etc.)

Reading: Inferencing - your child will be able to make inferences on different events that take place in life and in the stories they read

Language Arts: transition words - you child will learn different words to include in their writing to transition from one paragraph to another and from one sentence to the next.

Health: Nutrition - your child will be learning the components of the food chart as well as how to follow it to have a well balanced diet

Science: Forces and Motion - your child will be learning all about the six simple machines

Social Studies: your child will learn about colonization of the Americas

Math: long division with 2 digit divisors

We are extremely passionate about teaching children how to become fluent readers who comprehend everything they read.  Please assist us in helping your child by ensuring that they are consistently reading each night.
