Field Trip Postponed

Because the of the rainy weather that is predicted for Thursday Oct. 26th, our field trip is postponed until Thursday, November 2.

Thank you for attending your conference this week. We hope that we answered all you questions about your child's progress and our curriculum. Feel free to send us a note with any other questions that you may think of. This was our only scheduled conference, however, if you need one, Mrs. Wallace or Mrs. Phillips will be glad to schedule another conference with you later in the year.

We look forward to the field trip to the pumpkin patch on Thursday, Oct. 26th. If you chose to send a lunch from home, be sure you pack your child's lunch in a paper bag with a drink. Be sure to check the weather and dress you child for the weather, with comfortable play shoes.

Next week is Red Ribbon Week, Oct. 23-27. This is our Drug Awareness week. Your child brought home a letter this week telling the special things that they are to wear each day.

Dowell will honor Veterans Nov. 6-10th.  You will have the opportunity to honor our veterans and our current military with  a photo displayed in the school. Look for more information to come home soon.

We have been asked to tell you that Compton Elementary School will be giving out free children's clothing at their fall festival on Oct. 21st from 11:00-3:00. If you know of anyone that needs clothing, please let them know about this.

Bus Driver Appreciation Week

October 16th -20th is Bus Driver Appreciation Week. Why not have your child make their bus driver a special card or picture, letting them know how much you do appreciate them?

This is our blog and if you have been reading it online, that is wonderful! We are sending everyone a "hard copy" of this home this week. If you would like to check out the blog online, please send us you email address. For now, we will also send home a copy of the newletter. 

October in our Kindergarten

We hope that you all make it to the math night at Publix on Barrett Parkway on Thursday October 19th. If your last name  with A-M you will come from 6:00-6:30 to do fun math activities with your Dowell student. The P.T.A. meeting will be from 7:00-7:20 and then if you names begins with N-Z, your time will be from 7:20-8:00.

We look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child's progress at our conference during the week of  October 16-20. Be sure to be on time, since we have conferences scheduled back to back. If you are unsure of your time send us a note and we will confirm your time. The children will be dismissed at 12:20 each day of conference week. Don't forget the children do not come to school on Friday, Oct.13.

There will be a bookfair in the media center during the conference week.Monday-Thursday 8:00- 5:00 and Friday 8:00-12:00 noon. There are many wonderful books that you can choose from to purchase for your child. You can visit it before or after your conference.

We are not sure that we will be able to go on the field trip to the pumpkin patch on Oct. 26th. Only about 1/2 the class has brought in permission and donations. All children must have written permission and without sufficient funds the trip has to be canceled.

Thank you to the parents that have donated snacks for the children. If you still would like to send snacks in, we have 18 children. We would like individually wrapped snacks. We cannot have any nuts or peanut butter.
